The Year So Far
2024 Updates
Hello 👋
On this 15th August, The Apprentice Project wishes you a happy Independence Day. Here's to today serving as an inspiration to all of us to cherish the freedoms we hold dear and continually strive towards an inclusive nation.
Halfway into 2024, we come to you with what’s new and next in our world.
The Cool Stuff We Made
The all new TAP BUDDY!
Along with the integration of ChatGPT 3.5, we are also continuing our collaboration with Bhashini, an initiative by the Indian government instrumental in providing linguistic support. Our students can now send voice notes in their native languages to clear doubts and interact with TAP Buddy.
Churn Prediction
With enhancing student engagement and retention at its core, we launched a Churn Prediction Project in 2023-24, directed towards dissecting student behaviour through comprehensive data analysis. Currently, the model demonstrates an 80% accuracy rate in predicting potential dropouts among students.
Something To Look Forward To
We have revamped our M&E framework from a skillbuilder framework to a LSMT framework. This new framework has been developed in collaboration with UNICEF by an organisation vetted by the CBSE for being fit for the Indian context. The major focus of the framework will be measuring the impact, quality, and engagement of the students. The impact of the program will be measured through a summative assessment of the students, the data for quality check will be assessed every quarter through a formative assessment, whereas engagement levels will be understood in more depth by analysing TAP session attendance, the content access and submission of quizzes, and assignments related to the activity.
What We Did This Summer
This summer, in collaboration with Code.org and Kolibri (a free open-source platform designed for offline-first teaching and learning), TAP had the opportunity to work alongside the children of the Panaah Communities to bring the joy of coding to them. This pilot was launched with the objective to observe and document the facilitation process in order to estimate how this can be scaled to implement Kolibri as a TAP LMS countrywide. We are trying to navigate the challenge of the usability and learnability of the code.org curriculum in government schools in India, allowing us to better serve students with limited access to resources.
Additionally, we concluded a summer program that ran for a month. Over 15,000 students participated in the program.
Where The Action Was
Ujwal Impact Advisors recently organised an event that brought together organisations using innovative methods like AI, music, art, theatre, etc. to dramatically alter the lives of children. This was a great opportunity for us to learn from one another while educating others about our mission and work. TAP was represented at this gathering by our CEO Anand Gopakumar and Srinivasan Krishnamachary (Senior Partner: Development and Strategy).
