Revolutionizing Education with AI
How do we wield the power of Artificial Intelligence to transform education for underserved children?
We know that education is a distant dream for an alarming number of India’s children. Of the children who do manage to complete school, 47% find themselves without employable skills. When you want to change how we look at education for millions of children, you look to technology to scale impact.
The Apprentice Project (TAP) built a bot on WhatsApp called TAP Buddy to engage students. Using a child-friendly mascot via a familiar application that consumes lesser data facilitates self-learning in students and makes it affordable for students from low-income families.
How does this work?
Children interact with TAP Buddy and select a course of their choice. TAP offers 21st-century courses like Coding, Financial Literacy, Visual Arts, Electronics, and Performing Arts.
They then receive a life skills-focused curriculum in the form of weekly videos and assignments.
Here’s where we really harness the power of technology:
Students receive differentiated content based on their capabilities. The bot's Natural Language Processing (NLP) acts as a help desk to solve doubts. Machine Learning helps further personalise learning with the help of child-specific gamified behavioral nudges and leaderboards.
The result is accessible life-skills learning for students from low-income families in India! This is because AI can process large amounts of data and help to personalize the learning experience for students, providing tailored programs that can help to improve learning outcomes and better prepare them for the future. Leveraging technology is clearly the way to go when aiming for large-scale impact.
